Who we are

DuckByte is a UK software studio run by Alex Thomas ("DuckByte", "we", "us"). These terms apply to anyone who buys from us or uses this site. Questions: hi@duckbyte.co.

What you can buy

Site plan (£39 a month) and App plan (£89 a month): we build, host and maintain your website or standard app, and make the changes you ask for within the plan's scope. No setup fee.

Discovery sprint (£950, one-off): a working prototype of one agreed workflow, a written build plan and a fixed quote, delivered within about a week of the start date. If you go ahead with the Pro build within 60 days, the full £950 is credited against it.

Pro builds (from £4,950 per project) and care plans (from £249 a month): bespoke work to a written, fixed quote that sets out scope, milestones, price and payment schedule. The quote and these terms together form our agreement; if they conflict, the quote wins.

Prices and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling. Monthly plans are billed in advance by card through Stripe and renew each month. Sprints are paid up front. Pro builds are paid as set out in the quote (typically 50% to start and 50% on delivery), with invoices due within 14 days.

We may change plan prices with 30 days' notice by email. You can cancel before the new price applies.

Changes and scope

On monthly plans, "unlimited changes" means reasonable content and design changes to what we've built (text, images, pages, sections). New features, integrations or a different kind of build are quoted separately.

On Pro builds, work outside the agreed scope is quoted in writing before we do it. Nothing extra is billed without your written yes.

Cancelling

Monthly plans: cancel anytime from your billing page or by emailing us. Your plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for, with no further charges. There are no refunds for part months.

Sprints and Pro builds: you can stop at any time. You pay for work done up to that point, and keep everything delivered so far.

Who owns what

Once paid in full, you own the content you give us, your data, and the custom code and designs we create specifically for your project. We keep ownership of our own reusable tools, templates and know-how, and give you a permanent licence to use them as part of your project.

On monthly plans, the site or app runs on our platform while you're subscribed. If you leave, we'll give you your content and data, and can hand over the code for a one-off fee agreed at the time.

We may show your project in our portfolio unless you ask us not to.

Your responsibilities

You confirm you have the right to use anything you give us (text, images, logos, data) and that your project is lawful. You're responsible for the accuracy of your own content and for how you use what we build.

AI-assisted work

We use AI tools to help design, write and build. Everything that goes live is reviewed and you approve it. AI features we build for you (such as assistants on your systems) are read-only and require human approval before acting unless we agree otherwise in writing.

Hosting, availability and support

We aim to keep everything we host fast and available, and fix problems promptly, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service, especially where third parties (hosting, domains, email, payment or AI providers) are involved.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law. Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we're not liable for indirect losses such as lost profit or lost data.

The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
