Your inbox is deciding your margin

Look at a shared operations inbox on a Monday morning. A complaint from your biggest customer. A quote request worth thousands. A booking change for tomorrow. A conference invite. An internal thread about lunch. They all look the same: a line in a list, sorted by time.

So the team works top to bottom. The newsletter that arrived at 9:01 gets opened before the complaint that arrived at 9:26. Nobody decided that. The inbox did.

That's the problem we built ARGUS to solve for a logistics operator. It reads every incoming email, works out what kind of request it is, pulls out the details (routes, weights, dates, references) and scores it on five things: how long it's been waiting, who the customer is and what they're worth, what kind of request it is, how urgent it is, and the SLA.

Then it reorders the work. The same six emails, two different lists: on the left, the order they arrived. On the right, the order they're worth. The complaint and the big quote go to the top. The newsletter and the lunch thread drop to the bottom.

For each request, it drafts a reply grounded in the thread and the company's own knowledge. The agent reads it, edits it and sends it. Those edits feed back in, so the drafts get better. And because customer data couldn't leave the building, the whole thing runs on the client's own servers.

You don't need to be in logistics for this to apply. Any team that lives in a shared inbox (sales ops, customer service, a brokerage, an agency) has the same hidden problem: the most valuable request is rarely the newest one.

The fix isn't 'answer faster'. It's 'answer the right thing first'. That's a sorting problem, and sorting is something software is very good at.

If your team works out of a shared inbox, send us a line about it and we'll come back with a fixed quote, or prototype it on your own mail in a week. See ARGUS: duckbyte.co/work/argus
